F1 Academy x Charlotte Tilbury, the female powered partnership

For F1 fans recently, we have seen a rise of interest in the f1 academy. This is the all female driver academy, created in November 2022 with director Susie Wolff , a former professional racing driver and previous principal of Venturi, taking lead. It was created to explore what barriers female racing drivers experience when trying to get into formula racing. They found a key aspect was lack of experience, and so the driving academy fills this gap, providing more races, practice time and training. It will hopefully be a gateway for performing in formula three, and working up the pyramid to formula one. On Friday 3rd May, it was announced that the races are going to be aired as a docuseries on Netflix, following suit of the f1 drive to survive series, in the hopes to increase popularity and interest of women in the sport.

So, how does all of this link to this fashion and beauty blog ? Well, Charlotte Tilbury, the makeup brand, has announced they are officially an f1 academy global sports sponsorship. What does this mean ? Charlotte tilbury will use their social media’s and platforms to help the drivers build their careers and support their achievements, once again in the aim to show women across the world that they do have an opportunity in motorsport. 40% of f1 fans are now women, up 8% from 2017 ( Forbes.com), but the Susie Wolff wants to increase this number even more.

This sponsorship is important to the motor racing world as it is the first female owned brand to be a sponser in f1 academy. As for the Livery, helmet and racing suit, I think we can all agree it is the perfect combination of glamour and sophistication. Susie Wolff stated ‘ our message to them ( charlotte tilbury) is simple : dare to dream’ ( Charlottetilbury.com). This quote has become the mantra to their partnership.

Personally, I am excited to see how this sponsorship will open doors for the female motor racers, and hopefully encourage other companies to invest into their futures. As for the docuseries, I am sure it will bring in more fans for the academy, as I myself got into formula one through drive to survive.
